Anna Kate turns ONE

So this post is 5 months late. I’m sure most of our readers aren’t surprised. When you’re busy editing everyone else’s photos, your personal photos get put on the back burner. That’s just something I have to accept as a wedding photographer.

Anyways, our daughter turned one last September. As cliché as it sounds, the first year went by way too fast! We were just bringing her home form the hospital, then I blinked and we were planning her party. I never knew how difficult it would be to keep up with all the changes she would go through in such a short amount of time. It’s like every day she’s doing something new. She  is such a smart, funny and sweet little soul. I couldn’t feel more fortunate to be her mommy.

I had NO clue where to start with planning her party. I didn’t want to plan a BIG party (she didn’t have many friends of her own at the time, anyways), but I wanted it to be cute.  I found a pretty invitation on Etsy, then decided to let it’s vintage, girly theme be the inspiration for her party decor.

Our new neighborhood has a clubhouse by the pool, so we decided to have a “pool party” since the weather was still warm enough. We had cake, ice cream, and pink lemonade. That’s it. Simple enough. I added some ice cream toppings to make it a little more fun. My friend Lindsay who is amazingly talented whipped up a beautiful chalkboard birthday sign. I couldn’t believe how pretty it was!!

Here are some detail photos.

I love this picture (despite my dark roots and Jordan’s need for a haircut). Our sweet girl loves to feed others.

She took a few steps right after eating her cake. Perfect timing!

Oh what a year it has been! We can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for our big girl!
